Carol singing and streetcollectionin Nov outside Hastings Town Hall. 2011 WAS OUR BUSIEST YEAR Sept 2011 RELAY Thank you to The Co-operative Membership for the grant funding of £699 which was used to put on our fantastic Community Fun Weekend in September. This year's side events included Circus skills workshops, punch and judy puppet show, singing workshop, zumba class, and much more.
July 2011 Pretty In Pink 1066 Summer Ball What a night we had. 150 people danced the night away, ate great food and celebrated life. The evening included the 'Grand Prize Draw'. As part of the evening there were some auction lots too. We raised in excess of £15,000 The tables were sponsored by local business and that provided wine for the table and flowers. Aaron Norton provided music for everyone to dance to and during the meal we had a string quartet. The UK Garrison who are star wars fanatics added to the atmosphere as the public arrived. 2011Life Aid We were approached by Andy Sullivan of the Emergency Life Support Team to help run a Basic First Aid training for the public. This event was run over two days and the public where offered the opportunity to learn the basic awareness and techniques needed to recognise Stroke & Cardiac arrest as well as how to put someone in recovery position and what to do regarding choking. Students from Bexhill College assisted at the Bexhill event on the Sunday. They acted out life like scenarios to show realistically what these situations are like. In Hastings students from Park Wood Sixth form assisted to demonstrate the techniques to members of the public, under the guidance of Andy and his team.
March 2011· We had a cake and soup stand at the Hastings Half Marathon this year. 2012 & 2013 were quiet due to unforeseen circumstances.
July 2014 Treasure hunt in Alexandria Park, Hastings In aid of Sara Lee Trust - Registered charity number 1055048 Thank you so much to everyone who came to the park and joined in our treasure hunt. It was a really great event, loads of fun was had by all. We had 45 teams taking part, almost 200 people, and raised a fantastic £300 for the Sara Lee Trust.
RELAY 2010 The total miles travelled by the teams are:- Oddballs (Bexhill) 836 St Leonards Church Youth Hub - 889 1066 - 6 Miles (People coming wanting to do some laps as guests) Charles Angles ( New team this year) 715 Spire Sussex Hospital - 18 Madness (Bexhill team) - 510 Sandeman team - 932 Teachers Pet ( New team 2010) - 767 Travelled by Walking / Crawling / Cycling / Hoping / Space hopping / Blind folded.
Also 1066 It's A Knock Out sponsored byThe Harrow: Fun for all with Gladiator Joust, Inflatable obstacle course, three legged race, 5 person sack race in builders bags, Tug of War, Sporting challenges and much more. Not forgetting our fantastic VIP afternoon tea when 1066 Fundraisers invited people who have life limiting or chronic illness.
June 2011 Car boot sale and Fun Dog Show This was the first time our annual Fun Dog Show has been affected by bad weather. Everyone enjoyed the Dog show regardless of how wet everyone was from the torrential rain.
May 2011 - 1066 Relay from Pevensey to Rye. Run by Hastings Runners. We were approached to help cover the first aid and marshalling for the event. We arranged some entertainment and cake stall etc for Battle and for Rye.
In Battle the Battle Town band where on hand to entertain which was fantastic way to wake up a town on a Sunday morning. The UK Garrison added to the atmosphere again with one of the star wars characters conducting the band for a while. There were 200 runners from running clubs throughout south of England and a team came from America to take part in this event.
April 2011 Fun Swimming Relay This was a fun event and the first major event of the year. 3 hours of fun and games, some sensible laps of the pool such as breast stroke and crawl. The other laps were ride the float, conga train laps, push the ball relay. Three teams totalling 20 children took part in this fun sponsored event. Thanks go to Summerfields leisure centre for allowing us to use their pool for this event.
